Twenty acres of wetlands bordering on Kingsburg Pond. Our first donation of land, in 1999, was a 19-acre wetland adjacent to the protected dune system of Kingsburg Beach. This land, now called the Murphy Wetland, after donors David Murphy and Sonia Salisbury, is an interesting mix of wet meadow, old field, sphagnum bog, and low thickets. The habitat diversity makes this a significant area for breeding and migratory birds. The KCC stewardship plan calls for regular monitoring of this lot, which is accessed from Beach Hill Road.
That first glorious sight of Kingsburg when you crest the
hill will remain unspoiled forever!
The KCC owns and protects the triangle of land at the corner of Kingsburg Road and
Hirtles Beach Road. The lot is about xx?? of an acre and has frontage on the Kingsburg Pond.
